What is it Wednesday

Do you remember your mother and grandmother mending underwear?  From bra and slip straps, to pink and blue elastic for ladies, and girls underwear!  Monday was wash day, and Tuesday was ironing and mending day.  From sewing buttons back onto shirts, to new elastic, and sock darning.  My mother would spend the day fixing and ironing our clothes.  I'm old enough to remember when everything had to be ironed.  From sheets, to shirts, pants and blouses.  It did take time to all of this.  Today we throw them out and buy new.  Maybe if we fixed what was ripped we have a little extra spending money, or a little to save.  The bigger question is can you buy this stuff any more?  I'm lucky to buy a spool of white thread!  Times have changed.
