Abe Lincoln

“You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich...strengthen the weak by weakening the strong...bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift...lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down...build character and courage by taking away people’s initiative and independence...help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves." -Abraham Lincoln

What is it Wednesday

Welcome friends to another what is it Wednesday.  Last week I showed you ice tongs, and this week a ice pick.  Before refrigerators became the fashion, then a must, everyone kept there food cold with ice.  The ice pick was in every household and used to break up the ice into smaller portions for storage in the ice box.  If you need a piece of ice for you drink, you used the pick to break off a small piece.  Today we push a button on the door of the refrigerator for ice, both cubed or crushed, then we push another button for cold water.  With the hot weather sweeping the country I'm glad for my ice that I can get.  Enjoy your cold drink and remember your grandmothers, or great grandmothers and their ice boxes.  Their ice box was a fashion statement at one time also, and they thought they where very modern!  What will be next?   Come back next week for another What is it Wednesday.
