Abe Lincoln

“You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich...strengthen the weak by weakening the strong...bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift...lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down...build character and courage by taking away people’s initiative and independence...help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves." -Abraham Lincoln

What is it Wednesday

Welcome to another what is it Wednesday.  Today I have for you a Borden's Glass churn jar.  The date on the bottom is March 30, 1915.  Glass churn jars where used for making butter, beating eggs, or making whipping cream to go on some home made pie.  This one has wire beaters, some have wooden beaters.  Daisy, Borden's and Sears sold these to home makers.  Our grandmothers or great grandmothers use items like this everyday.  Today we run to the grocery store and buy butter, and whip topping.

Remember I having a giveaway so if you have not already signed up, please do so.  Good luck to everyone.

Thanks for the post. I also, think that their homemade butter and whipped topping tasted a lot better than our store brands today!

That is so very cool. It's so easy to forget about how much work it took to make things we now take for granted.

They might have had to work harder, but
it is fun to collect all of the old kitchen
gadgets from way back! Thanks for
sharing, I have never seen one of these.
