Dirtroad Team - Shawz and From Victory Road

Welcome to leap day of leap year! What will you do with your extra day? I will be doing the same old thing! Take a minute and visit with the two wonderful shops from the Dirtroad Team. The first shop is Shawz where Shawn learned how to sew as a little girl making dolls with her grandmother. Her grandmother is now 98 and still going, must be the sewing! Shawn learned how to quilt in 1999 and this has now turned into a nice little business for her. Shawn loves colors and her shop is filled with bright colors. You will find quilted pillows, tooth fairy pillows, cup cozy and crayon bags. The crayon bag comes in a small and large size and would be a great addition to a Easter Basket. Everyone loves to color and crayon to go will help keep a child busy while you are on the go. Shawn does do some custom orders, but please remember she has a small daughter and a new baby so leave enough time to get the order done. Shawn comes to us from a small town in Tennessee. The next shop comes from Kansas, called From Victory Road. Don and Kayann have their Etsy shop filled with repurposed items. They make refillable journals, ACEO cards and more. You will also find refills for the journals. Check out the hand bags that have been hand painted, made from quilts, or the one made from fussed plastic bags. The robot lamp made from lamp parts is so so cute. This is the shop for very unique one of kind items. If you have someone who is hard to shop for this is the shop for you, they have something for everyone. If you live in a small town this team is for you. Monday Merchant with The Lil Prim Cabin

Welcome to Monday Merchant with the Primitive and Folk Art Team.  Please stop by and visit with Brandy from The Lil Prim Cabin.  Brandy is a high school teacher from Nebraska who loves to hunt for vintage and antique items.  Her Etsy shop has some vintage items, you will also find blacken bees wax, and hand poured soy candles.  Love the candle with the vintage photos. This week is our book sale.  The market along with the library will share in the money being made from the sale of books.  While you are picking up your fresh produce you may find a good book to read later in the afternoon.  Nothing better then curling up with a book on a cold winter afternoon.

The market offers fresh produce, bread, eggs, meat, coffee, tea, milk, cheese and more.  While you are at the market please stop by and visit with these vendors and get to know them and their product.

When you walk in the door you will find Kim from UP Pasties.  For those who live outside of Michigan meat pasties started in the very upper part of Michigan (then part above the mitten).  The are a pie crust filled with meat and vegetables folded over.  The miners in the UP used to carry them in their lunch pails.  Plus Kim has  Chicken Pot Pies and Yooper Toast!  You will be so happy with them you will be back.  Come early because Kim sells out most weekends.  Here is Kims web site for information and where you will find her Pasties http://www.uppasties.com

Dirtroad Team - PWOriginals and LorrisThings

We are in the middle of the month, and time is fly by fast.  Both shops I have for you today come from small towns in Virginia.  This team is all about helping artists that living in small towns.  Please stop over and visit with Pam from PW Originals, where you will find some wonderful purse and totes for both young and old.  Her eye for fabric and how it will turn out is amazing.  Sewing for herself and family since she was a preteen she has learned a lot about fabric and placement of the fabric design.  You will also find pincushions, scarfs, pillows and more.  Pam also does custom orders and will work with you and your needs.






The next shop is LorrisThings.  Lorri has been making and selling jewelry since 1999.  She has learned silversmithing at the J.C.Campbell school in North Carolina.  Using different hammers she gets a lot of different texture to her jewelry. Take your time while going through her shop.  Plus Lorri knits and will also take custom orders.  Her new item in her shop are cup cozy, nothing better then keeping your coffee warm on cold winter days.  Lori also follows her blacksmith husband around to the different shows and sells her jewelry while helping him out.

Monday Merchant with the Firecracker Kid Primitives

Each Monday I have been posting about the wonderful talent on the Primitive and Folk Team and this week I would love for you to visit the Firecracker Kid Primitives.  Carol name her shop for the wonderful fact she was born on the 4th of July.  She works along side of her husband Tim in make some amazing wood products.  They have their shop filled with cabinet shelves, bowl racks, noodle boards and more.  I love the quilted cranes that they make.  Each item is lovely made by hand from their own patterns, with Tim cutting the wood and Carol painting and finishing each piece   Care is given to each piece to make sure you are getting exactly what you have order.  They do have some item ready for shipping, but each order takes about two weeks to finish.  You can not rush paint into drying!

This Saturday there will be a cooking demo with Door to Door Organic.  Plus George will be back Fixing and Sharpening cutlery and garden tools, it is never to early to get your tools in shape for the season.

Please stop by the three vendors I have this week and say HI and get to know them better. The first stop  is Springbrook Garden, located in Farmington and family owned since 1932.  Meet John and his wife Sue.  They have fresh fruit, potatoes, onions, apples, lettuce, flowers and more.  They are the only ones allowed to sell Benjamin Twiggs Jelly from Traverse City, Mi.  They get really fresh oranges from FL and they are so good.  Here is the web site so you can check them out for yourself http://www.springbrookgardensflorist.com/

Across the isle from them is Sandy from Emma's Sugar & Spice also from Farmington.  Sandy makes Mediterranean, Middle Easter Food, plus fresh Hummas.

Next to Sandy is Anna from Bon-A-Rose Foods.  She is the co-owner of this family run business.  They cook and bottle authentic Italian dressing and sauces.  Check out their web site for more information on where to find them and their product.  Also they have a 19th century banquet facility for your special parties.  While at the market take home dinner in a bag from them for some of their other goodies they have for sale.

The first shop is from a small town in Michigan called Joyful Art Studio.  Joy works in mosaics, glass and jewelry.  Currently she has her shopped filled with wonderful jewelry pieces for you to check out.  My favorite piece is the copper brick pendent necklace, love the texture on the setting.  What will you find to become your favorite? You can also find Joy on ebay for more wonderful items for sale.







The next shop comes from Colorado. Natasha is the artist behind Greenhouse Glassworks. The name of her came to be from working at the back of a greenhouse. How cool is this work on your art and grow tomatoes and herb at the same time. What a lucky lady! This shops is filled with fused and stain glass. Natasha also makes some cute tags to add to your project or tie on a package or gift. If you need a larger piece you will find her at www.clglassworks.com.
