It is Fat Tuesday, and here in SE Michigan we celebrate with Paczki (Punch-key) a Polish Tradition. Germans call them Berliners and in Austria they are called Krapfen. What is a Paczki - jelly filled dough balls covered with several types of sugar or glaze. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday the start of Lent and fasting for the next 40 days. How do you enjoy Fat Tuesday? Please let me know! Yes I still get my milk in glass bottles. I live very close to Calder's Dairy Farm, and they put their milk in old fashion glass bottles. We need to support our local cows.

Hi,
Here in Portugal we call those "bolas de Berlim" and they're filled with a pastry cream (the usual yellow one, but I don't know its name in english).
Usually I don't post links in comments, but I guess that you won't mind if I post a link to an image, so that you and your readers may compare with ours, which as you can see are quite alike: http://aeiou.expresso.pt/users/2407/240714/1368cf7f.jpg
Kind regards,
José
