What is it Wednesday
Welcome to what is is Wednesday. Sorry I missed last week, but my military kids where home! We had a great visit, and now I'm trying to get my life caught up. This week I have a Cream Separator. It was used to separate the milk from the cream, using a crank, the milk which is heavier would stay on the sides, while the cream which is lighter would drain out the center. Remember their is light cream and heavy cream also. Some for your coffee and some to be beaten for your pie. Before the separator was invented milk would be aloud to sit for the cream to float to the top. In the summer months the milk would sour. The separator would speed up the processes, so no more sour milk. Today I have turned it into a plant stand. I found this down the road at an estate sale, when Grandma (everyone called my neighbor Grandma) passed away, and her home was sold. I love my separator, and so glad I have found a home for it.

That's a neat piece of history and makes an excellent plant stand. Thanks Rose!
That's really neat. I never would have guessed what it was. Thanks for sharing!

My DH got hurt from one of the old cream separators when he was little guy. I remember the days when my Grandma would leave the fresh cows milk out and skim the cream off the top to make butter. How sweet it was. LenZie
