Abe Lincoln

“You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich...strengthen the weak by weakening the strong...bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift...lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down...build character and courage by taking away people’s initiative and independence...help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves." -Abraham Lincoln

What is it Wednesday

Welcome to another what is it Wednesday.  This is an old pump that would have been out in the yard.  Each time you needed water you would have to go out and get it.  Sometime the water would come up easy and other times you did have to work for it.  In the winter straw and old blanket would keep it warm during the night and keep it from freezing up.  Today we have it so easy, turn on the faucet and the water comes out, both hot and cold.  Remember our great grandmother had to go out pump the water, heat it on the stove, then do the laundry, dishes, bathe the baby, and cook!  But they are a lot of fun to turn into a water feature in your yard.  A little pump from the hardware and some plastic hose and you are good to go!  Does anyone have a picture of a pitcher pump that would sit on the side of the sink?  If so would you share a picture and story about it.  I would love to feature it and you on my blog.

Welcome to the last week of September! This month has gone by so fast, and fall is here. Time for some apple cider, and donuts. So get a glass of cider and enjoy your visit to three more wonderful shops from the Old Farmhouse Group. The first shop is Old Glory Soldiers, this active duty Army family makes military and patriotic signs, plus primitive beeswax. Great place to shop for your military member, or something patriotic for yourself. The next shop is Old World Primitives. Stephanie makes primitive folk art, primitive dolls, and vintage inspirited ornaments. In 2009 her chenille angel ornaments where featured on the cover of Celebrate 365 magazine. What an honor for her. Last shop for today is Olde Country Cupboard, filled with hand painted signs, handmade tags, wooden bowl fillers, and crocheted dish clothes. These are great for stocking stuffer. Remember you can type "OFG team" into the search bar on Etsy and find more wonderful shops. Come back next Monday for three more great shops.

Dirtroadteam on Etsy - Bellacosaart

Welcome friends and please take a moment to visit the shop of Bellacosaart. Deanna is a self taught artist living in Montana. Her love of art is pasted on to her children, and she also teaches art in their schools. Inspiration for her work comes from her family and the Rockies in Montana. Always pushing herself to try something new like the palette knife work. You will find her work also in greeting cards, pocket mirrors, magnets and prints all made from her original work. You will also find her work on recycled items like boards, or brown paper bags! Wonderful shop to visit and to read her profile section. Come back next Friday for another shop from the Dirt Road Team on Etsy.
